Vladimir Voronin: There is no alliance with Vlad Filat in sight

The chairman of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin said that no alliance with the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) and its leader Vlad Filat is in sight. Voronin made the statements in reaction to Marian Lupu’s assertion that the bills passed by the PLDM and PCRM in Parliament on May 3 point to the existence of an agreement between the two parties, IPN reports.

“Parliament is not a casino. We must not put the interests of a party above the people’s interests,” said the Communist leader. As to the joint vote with the PLDM, Vladimir Voronin said the PCRM aimed to respect the commitments made to the voters.

As regards the rise in the election threshold, the leader of the PCRM said they want people who deserve it to enter Parliament. “Why do we need traitors who betray us when they are paid. In the U.S. for example, there are two large parties that come to power in turn. And the state is powerful,” stated Vladimir Voronin.

A number of bills were adopted and others abrogated by the votes of the Communist and Liberal-Democratic MPs. The lawmakers abrogated the decision by which Corneliu Gurin was named prosecutor general, the law on the joint electoral system and the law banning voting with Soviet-type passports. The election threshold was raised, while the interim Premier was given more powers.
