The Heart of Moldova Party accuses the ruling party PAS of pressure exerted within the campaign to collect signatures under an appeal-statement for the international recognition of Moldova's neutrality. The collected signatures will be submitted to the future Parliament and Government, the head of the new party Irina Vlah announced, IPN reports.
The politician told the press that the party she leads in the last month carried out an extensive campaign to collect signatures under a declaration that provides support for the idea of international recognition of the neutrality of the state. Those from the Heart of Moldova met with people from different districts. "The people are for peace and categorically against the unjustified spending of billions of lei for military purposes," noted Irina Vlah.
The politician said that representatives of the police exerted pressure during this period on members of the Heart of Moldova Party and on the signatories of the appeal-statement. "Not only did they come to our meetings, intimidating the citizens, but they also repeatedly took the appeal-statement signed by the people," said Irina Vlah. According to her, the leadership of the ruling party gave "direct instructions to the National Center for Personal Data Protection to do everything possible to prove that personal data was collected, but this is not true."
The head of the Heart of Moldova Party added that "the Parliament and the Government are not interested in hearing the voice of the people" and that "the maximum they will do with the collected lists of signatures will be to start a campaign of pressure on citizens, which we cannot admit.”
