The winners of the National Dramaturgy Contest organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism were designated on Monday, December 28, Info-Prim Neo reports. The works that took part in the contest focused on different themes and ideas, said the jury's head Valentina Tazlauanu, stressing the authors tried to investigate the inner world of the man through modern and postmodern angles. “The theater needs plays centering on the state of the modern man. We are in the 21st century, when the occidental theater develops and it is very important that we have intellectual works of a new level,” Valentina Tazlauanu said. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa said new ideas are needed in theater in a new century. “The theaters should return to the national plays as soon as possible. I hope the theaters and our national playwrights will establish an efficient cooperation,” the minister said. There were named two winners of the second prize of 9,000 lei: Dumitru Constantin, with the play “Podul” (“The Bridge”) and Nicolae Negru, with the play “Femeia Invizibila” (“The Invisible Woman”). Two third prizes were given to Serghei Evstratiev for “Profiluri în fata” (“Front Profiles”) and to Dumitru Crudu for “Maine, la ora cinci“(“Tomorrow, at 5 o'clock”). The authors received by 7,000 lei each. The debut prize of 4,000 lei was offered to Ana Tofan for the play “Fusul cu zurgalai” (“Spindle with Bells”). Ala Dombrovskaia received 2,000 lei for raising the Eminescian theme in the play “Provodnic” (“The Conductor”). Gheorghe Calamanciuc's play “Strengarel si Motanel” was awarded 1,500 lei for the human message it carries. Valentina Tazlauanu said the first prize was not awarded as the jury could not reach a consensus. The National Dramaturgy Contest is organized once in two years to develop national dramaturgy, diversify dramatic genres, enrich the repertoires of the national theaters, promote young talents, maintain the emulative spirit and stimulate the experiment in writing dramatic texts.
