The data show that, 96 normative acts of EU relevance were adopted in 2023. Among the central authorities with the highest number of transposed and implemented actions are the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development. The Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration also presented the progress made in implementing the European Commission’s recommendations. It is worth noting that eight recommendations have already been fulfilled. “I would say that we have a very good assessment of the implementation of the recommendations. We are already finalizing the vetting and appointment of judges to the Supreme Court of Justice and finalizing the selection and appointment of a new Prosecutor General. These are two measures stipulated in the latest recommendation. The rest have already been implemented,” said Cristina Gerasimov.

In the same meeting, the work of the Centre for the Harmonization of Legislation and of the working groups involved in the European integration process was presented. “In the next period, we must organize ourselves very well. The capacities are limited, but we will work hard to succeed in time with all the procedures related to the integration into the European Union. We will organize such meetings to talk about the progress made and see where we can help you,” concluded the chair of the Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration Ina Coşeru.

The Republic of Moldova applied to join the European Union in March 2022 and was granted the candidate status in June 2022. In December 2023, the EU leaders decided to open accession negotiations.
