5+2 talks to be resumed in autumn

Transnistrian settlement negotiations in the 5+2 format will be resumed this autumn. This was discussed at a meeting between Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi and Claus Neukirch, head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.

Claus Neukirch has reiterated OSCE’s readiness to offer assistance and expertise in areas such as human rights, the Transnistrian settlement, implementation of the Strategy for the consolidation of interethnic relations, and cooperation between Parliament and the Gagauz People’s Assembly.

The latest round of 5+2 negotiations took place last May in Rome, resulting in the signing of the Rome Protocol that includes a series of agreements and responsibilities for the parties involved.

The 5+2 negotiation format is comprised Moldova and Transnistria as parties to the conflict, the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine as mediators, and the United States and the European Union as observers.
