The Bloc ACUM and the Democratic Party didn’t change their positions concerning the political decisions adopted by Parliament during the past few days. The Bloc ACUM considers the parliamentary majority formed by ACUM and the Socialists in Parliament acts in accordance with the law, while the PDM believes its acts are unlawful. The issue was developed in a program on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.
ACUM MP Mihai Popsoi said the PDM wants to keep power at any cost and does not want to leave even if there are a legitimate parliamentary majority, an invested Government and a functional Presidential Office. This government enjoys the support of most of the people. ”We are oriented to compromise and didn’t come to power to wage a war. We came to bring peace, quietness and prosperity to the people,” stated Mihai Popșoi.
According to the vice president of the Democratic Party Vladimir Cebotari, the situation from legal viewpoint is very clear. There are a number of Constitutional Court judgments providing that Parliament was already dissolved and there can be no new Government and a functional legislature. “Either we like them or not, but these CC decisions, as those saying that a parliamentary majority means 52, not 51 votes, should be respected,” he stated, noting the decisions on the formation of a parliamentary majority and the Government didn’t meet the legal time limits.
Constitutional law expert Teodor Cîrnaț said the political impasse that appeared in Moldova comes from the justice sector. The Constitutional Court passed judgements and issued opinions that are rather beneficial to the Democratic Party, which named the CC judges. “President Dodon submitted an application in May, but the judges waited for June 7 to reject it. When a request is rejected, no arguments are provided,” stated Teodor Cîrnaț, adding the CC issued the opinions about the dissolution of Parliament and the appointment of the new Prime Minister without waiting for the documents to be signed and without obeying the procedure.
