The application concerning the method of electing the head of state filed by the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) reached the Constitutional Court. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the Court’s spokesman Dumitru Tara said that the Court has not yet decided when the document will be examined. Two weeks ago, the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said that the AEI decided to constitute a group of experts in law who will concentrate their efforts on identifying a solution to the political crisis. On February 8, this year, the Constitutional Court ruled that it is within the Parliament’s competence to choose the date of the presidential elections. On the other hand, the AEI says the current constitutional provisions on the election of the President create confusion and the Court should clarify a number of aspects.
