Ambassador Neguta summoned to Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry

Moldova’s Ambassador to Russia Andrei Neguta was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Grigory Karasin told the Moldovan diplomat that they categorically oppose the Moldovan Government’s decision by which Deputy Premier Dmitry Rogozin was declared undesirable on Moldova’s territory, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, during the last few years the Russian authorities have constantly worked to develop the relations with the Republic of Moldova, including in the economic and commercial spheres. But these measures stand in contrast to the irresponsible steps by Chisinau, which are aimed at consciously undermining the Moldovan-Russian relation. It became evident that not only high-ranking Russian officials and peacekeepers, but also the ordinary citizens of the two states became the targets for provocations.

“It seems that the Moldovan politicians are trying to obtain the role of “right flank” in that historical campaign without prospects that is aimed against the Russian Federation. All these things arouse indignation and will get a corresponding response. Moreover, we have to warn that such dangerous actions could have destabilizing influence on the situation in the region and in Europe, in general. This message is topical in the context of the continuous attempts by Moldovan politicians to worsen the situation related to the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict,” says the Ministry’s note.

The Cabinet on August 2 approved a decision on the imposition of restrictive measures against the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin whereby this was declared undesirable on Moldova’s territory. According to Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur, Rogozin made a number of public statements that are unfriendly, denigrating and offensive to Moldova and its people. In an interview for the TV channel “Rossia 24”, Dmitry Rogozin made assertions that defame Moldova and the country’s citizens. He also made statements insulting the Moldovan authorities.
