The Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) didn’t end the struggle for the annulment of the mixed-member electoral system even if it announced that it will take part in the parliamentary elections of 2018, the party’s leader Andrei Nastase stated in the program “Politics” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
Andrei Nastase said there are yet other resources and means to struggle against the mixed electoral system. The holding of a referendum is one of these. “The referendum is one of the most important means and it would be a pity for the democratic opposition not to use it,” noted the leader of the PPPDA. He added that he made an approach to Government and Parliament to initiate a legislative referendum, but received no answer yet.
Nastase also said that the protests are another method of fighting the mixed system. “The protests are a democratic instrument, but resources of different types are needed in this regard and different parties should combine forces,” stated the politician. According to him, all the efforts should be concentrated on the two dimensions - referendum and protests.
