Andrei Nastase: We must show unity now

The supporters of mayor-elect Andrei Nastase since morning protested in front of the Chisinau City Hall, dissatisfied with the Supreme Court of Justice’s decision to uphold the invalidation of the June 3 Chisinau mayoral election results, making thus the ruling irrevocable, IPN reports.

Victor Sirbu from Chisinau said he came to protest because the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc stole the vote he gave to Andrei Nastase in the early mayoral elections. “Why don’t they allow Nastase to work? Vlad Plahotniuc is the dictator. He orders who to jail and who to set free, from where to steal money and from whom,” he stated.

Alexandru Rosca said his vote was stolen by Mister Plahotniuc and his gang who formed an alliance with Igor Dodon into which they also involved Ion Ceban. “Ceban congratulated Nastase on his victory, but then went and filed a challenge. Not even the Nazis did so. We had a small island of hope here. Chisinau started to wake up, but the villages are unable to reason,” said the protester.

Ana Grigoriev noted she is disappointed with the situation in the country. Andrei Nastase, who is a skillful, wise and dignified man and who wanted to change the situation in the country and give the people a chance to live in a nice city, cannot represent his voters.

Ion Malic said he came to protest against the current government. “Everyone obeys Plahotniuc. He does nothing good for the people. He spreads evil. Yesterday’s decision of the judges was as Plahotniuc ordered this to be. Those who defend Plahotniuc should swear an oath and promise to defend Pahotniuc, not the people,” he stated.

“Our message is: Wake up, dear people! Yesterday the government had the only chance to put things rightsand validate the choice made by us, the citizens of Chisinau. The vote of the people should govern. This is democracy. Regrettably, we are heading for dictatorship. It is important to protest and make common case,” stated the Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, deputy head of the Party “Action and Solidarity”.

Andrei Nastase said later today they will announce the actions that will be taken further to defend the vote of the inhabitant s of Chisinau. “We will consult civil society, the diaspora, people who know how to organize such things. It is definite that we will resist this dictatorship established by a penal and political procurer. We must show unity now,” stated Andrei Nastase.

The crowed of people who gathered at 7:30am dispersed two hours later with the intention of returning to the street.
