The Bashkan (Governor) elections in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia will take place on May 19, 2019. A decision to this effect was taken by the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia on September 21, IPN reports.

In the meeting, the deputies of the People’s Assembly examined three proposals concerning the election day, including the one submitted by current Bashkan Irina Vlah, who suggested that the elections should take place on February 17.

By 18 votes in favor, ten votes again and three abstentions, it was decided that the elections will be held on May 19, 2019.

Irina Vlah said earlier she will run in the next elections as she wants to continue the programs she implemented during three years and a half.
