Members and sympathizers of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) protested in front of the Government Building against optimizations in the field of education. They accused the government of disastrous education policies, which result in the closure of educational institutions, IPN reports.
“Today we came to send a message to a man who committed a number of crimes against the education system, against universities, against schools, against villages and towns of Moldova. We are talking about Dan Perciun, the one who dared to have absolutely inadmissible and vulgar communication with the directors of educational institutions and who told them that, regardless of their position, the so-called reforms will take place,” said BCS MP Vlad Batrîncea.
The Socialist heavyweight reminded of the merger of universities, stating that it goes to a disrespectful attitude. Now, according to him, the government wants to close vocational schools. “They say there are few children. Of course they are few, but this is a consequence that is caused by the people who work in this Government. They are unable to ensure economic growth. They strip the regions of funding and then say that there are no enough children,” stated the MP.
Another BCS MP, Grigore Novac, said that a prosperous society is an educated society and it is the duty of the authorities to provide high-quality education to the country’s children. “Managing an illiterate society is the easiest thing and that’s what the current government is trying to achieve – to deprive the people of the right to study and then manipulate them. The criminal regime must go,” he noted.
MP Diana Caraman said that no government in Moldova behaved so “criminally” towards the country’s citizens. According to her, while there is constant talk about the European integration, the PAS representatives consistently violate the human rights, denying the European values they are supposed to represent.
The Ministry of Education and Research hasn’t yet come up with a reaction to the protest mounted by the BCS.
