MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BSC) want the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) to be banned from raising charges for more than once a year. They announced that they will register a bill to this effect, IPN reports.
MP Petru Burduja told a news conference that the natural gas prices on international stock exchanges decreased today, but Moldovans continue to pay high bills. “The natural gas, although in 2023 it was purchased by Moldova at an average price of US$724, today in Europe, on international exchanges, it costs US$300 per thousand cubic meters,” stated the MP.
According to him, the country pays twice higher prices for the bought gas. Also, higher expenses are incurred for natural gas transmission services. “We ask ANRE not to allow the charge to be increased by over 58%, as the Moldovan gas grid operator requested today, compared to the rate approved at the end of 2023,” said Petru Burduja.
The Socialist MP also said that the BCS group will propose a legislative initiative to prevent ANRE from raising the prices of all the services it regulates for more than once a year. “We will seek to prohibit ANRE from modifying prices when it comes to an increase. When it comes to a decrease, the charges can be reviewed as many times as needed,” noted Petru Burduja.
