President Maia Sandu has conferred the military rank of brigadier general on Colonel Vitalie Micov, chief of the General Staff of the National Army, commander of the National Army, IPN reports.
According to the law on the training of citizens for the defense of the homeland, the rank of brigadier general is a supreme military rank conferred by presidential decree.
Vitalie Micov was appointed chief of the General Staff, commander of the National Army, two months ago. He previously held the position of military attaché to the United States of America, but also senior military commander of the peacekeeping contingent on behalf of the Republic of Moldova in the Security Zone.
By presidential decree, the military rank of brigadier general was also bestowed on Colonel Sergiu Voinu, deputy chief of the General Staff of the National Army.
