A group of inhabitants of Chisinau's Ciocana district demand that the municipal authorities abandon the idea of allowing building elite private houses in the park area on M. Sadoveanu St, which is situated near a large playground, Info-Prim Neo reports. On May 22, the residents staged an open-air meeting where they expressed their dissatisfaction with the destruction of the public recreational areas and green areas, which became a normal phenomenon lately. According to them, the municipal authorities are to blame as they issue certificates and authorizations for construction in these places. They said the authorities intend to use the public area situated at 1 M. Sadoveanu St for erecting private buildings there. Invited to the meeting, the Communist Party's candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon was asked to take steps and save the playground. Igor Dodon promised to take measures to protect the playground. “Places where the families and children can rest will be created in all the districts of Chisinau. They must be protected so that they are not destroyed and replaced by private buildings,” he stated.
