The Centru District Court today confirmed the validity of the elections for the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), also confirming the mandates of the 51 newly elected councilors. The Court noted in its decision that Communist candidate for councilor Anatolie Tofan will be replaced in the Council by Ghenadie Tanurcov and that, according to the law, the inaugural meeting of the CMC is to be held within 20 days. The votes cast in the CMC on June 5 were recounted on June 30 at the request of the Liberal Party. The recount however didn't change the configuration of forces in the Council, with each party retaining the same number of seats, as follows: PCRM 26, PL 17, PLDM 7, and PD 1.
