The Chisinau/Centru Court has rejected as unfounded a request by Our Party for gas rates to be lowered retroactively.
The party’s leader, Renato Usatîi, accused the court of “coordinating” its decision with the President’s Office and promised to appeal.
“The so-called reformed judiciary is working in the interest of the government, and not in the interest of justice. How can you trust the judiciary and the government when they decide against the people and disregard the law? Our team will appeal this ruling at the Court of Appeal in the hope that there are still law-abiding judges that will do justice to the people”, declared Usatîi.
The suit brought by Our Party against the government concerns a June 2023 decision to lower gas rates for domestic consumers. The party wanted the decision to have retroactive effect and apply in gas bills starting February 2023.
