The Democratic Party (PDM) is the only political force that can ensure a balance between the forces of the right and those of the left, the president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov stated in the talk show “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel, IPN reports.

“There are two parties of the right that aim to substitute the parliamentary parties. There are also two parties of the left that want to come to power. But which party will maintain the center of the Moldovan politics? The PDM must stay to ensure the balance between the parties of the right and those of the left,” said Dumitru Diacov.

He also said that the PDM’s role is to also keep the European course of the Republic of Moldova. “What shall we do with this country? If the parties of the left come, we will follow one course. If those of the right come, we will follow another course. We must ensure stability of the development course,” stated the Democratic heavyweight.

As to the protests, Dumitru Diacov said he supports them, but only if they are peaceful. “An increasing number of people who protested peacefully during the past year understood that they were used by particular forces to satisfy their interests. Those who forced the door of the Parliament Building on January 20 do not represent the people. These were 20 well-trained persons. It’s a pity that during 25 years we haven’t learned to develop peacefully,” he stated.
