The People's Assembly of Gagauzia has formally approved the results of the February 2 consultative referendum. The Assembly's President Dmitri Constantinov has told IPN all the 35 members of the autonomy's parliament voted in favor of declaring the plebiscite valid.
Constantinov announced that on February 21 a meeting will be held to bring together 178 former Assembly members, who served in the 1990', so that they can also vote to support the referendum's outcome.
Chisinau does nor recognize the legitimacy of the plebiscite held in the Gagauz autonomy. The decision to hold the referendum had been annulled by the Comrat Court.
