Candidate in the Romanian parliamentary elections Gheorghe Vita challenges his rival Eugen Tomac to TV debates. Vita says that if Tomac isn’t afraid and has what to say about his activity for the benefit of Bessarabian Romanians, he will accept the challenge, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Gheorghe Vita counts on the votes of Romanian citizens residing in Moldova. He accuses the previous representatives of these Romanians in the Parliament of not coming up with any initiatives for the improvement of these citizens’ situation. Moreover, Vita thinks that the money allotted for the Department for Romanians Abroad ended up in somebody’s pockets. “There are some smart guys who make good money from Romanianism”.
Gheorghe Vita wonders why there are no stands of Romanian books in Moldova, despite the money allotted in this regard. He wants full transparency in the activity of the Department for Romanians Abroad.
The candidate added that for years he had knocked at the doors of the representatives of Bessarabian Romanians in the Parliament with various legislative initiatives, but nobody heard him.
Vita’s supporters accuse Eugen Tomac of being good to the people only before elections and of changing his contacts immediately after he is elected. They question the right of those who did nothing for the Romanians in Moldova during their mandate to run for office once again and to call the people to vote for them once more.
Romania will hold parliamentary elections on December 9. Gheorghe Vita is the candidate of the People’s Party, and Eugen Tomac is the candidate of President Traian Basescu's Liberal Democratic Party.
