The Cabinets of Moldova and Romania have a joint meeting in Constanta on September 22, starting at 10am. Afterward, the two Premiers will give a joint news conference.
Contacted by IPN, Veronica Gerbovetski, spokeswoman for Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, said the members of the two Cabinets are to agree new projects that will be financed based on the technical and financial agreement. Special attention will be paid to the continuation of infrastructure projects in the energy sector, for ensuring the interconnection of the electric power and natural gas systems, and in the transport sector, for designing and building new bridges over the Prut River.
Other projects that are to be discussed in the meeting refer to agriculture, sanitary-veterinary control, environment protection, support for developing the health system by extending the emergency intervention service in Moldova and investments in the dialysis centers of the main hospitals. The education sector is a special component of the program of financial assistance provided by Romania. New nursery schools will be built, especially in rural areas.
The Romanian press reported that the Prime Minister of Romania Victor Ponta wants to clearly transmit a message of support for the European reforms and for the Moldovans who are dissatisfied with the state of affairs in the country. “I think that in such a difficult moment, we must indeed support them as no one else can help them so swiftly now. I think the truthfulness of the words that ‘we are brothers’ can be proven namely in such moments,” he stated.
