Head of state signs decree to dismiss finance minister

President Nicolae Timofti on August 14 signed a decree to discharge Veaceslav Negruta from the post of Minister of Finance based on his resignation. The dismissal was proposed by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, the head of state also signed a decree to name Anatol Arapu as Minister of Finance, at the suggestion of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca. The new minister will be sworn in at the State Residence today.

Anatol Arapu held the post of Minister of Finance in 1998-1999. He was born on November 27, 1962 in Vasieni, Ialoveni. He graduated from the Faculty of Economy of the State University of Moldova in 1985, the Moscow Institute of Economics and Statistics in 1987 and the WTO Institute of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1993.
