Head of Parliament Igor Corman requested the UK to support the efforts to modernize Moldova. The request was made during a meting with a delegation of British MPs headed by Lord Alfred Dubs, chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Moldova of the British House of Lords, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the Parliament’s press service, Igor Corman said the European integration process is irreversible. It is a model for developing and modernizing the country. “Most of the people understand that our future is in the EU,” stated the Speaker.
Lord Alfred Dubs said that Moldova must become an EU member, while the UK will assist the country in achieving the European integration objective. “The UK was, is and will remain Moldova’s friend,” he added.
Lord Alfred Dubs is paying a visit to Moldova on March 20-23. The delegation accompanying him includes the House of Commons members John Whittingdale and Philip Davies, and Lord Michael James German of the House of Lords.
