Igor Corman to pay visit to Romania

Head of Parliament Igor Corman will make a visit to Romanian on September 30 – October 1 at the invitation of the President of the Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Stefan Zgonea. The subject of the visit was discussed in a meeting of the Speaker and Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the Parliament’s press service, during the official visit Igor Corman will take part in the meeting of the Joint Commission for European Integration of the Parliament of Moldova and the Parliament of Romania in Iasi.

Igor Corman said that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe next week will discuss the report on the fulfillment of the commitments made by Moldova to the EU. He voiced hope that the new assistance program of the Council of Europe will help Moldova fulfill its commitments and continue the initiated reforms.

Marius Lazurca said the Romanian authorities will continue to provide unconditional support to Moldova on the path to European integration. According to him, the program of the Moldovan Speaker’s visit to Romania is ambitious and enables him to say that more substance was added to the bilateral cooperation between the Romanian and Moldovan legislatures.

At the end of September, the chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova Marian Lupu will pay a visit to New York. On September 26, Marian Lupu, who is one of the vice presidents of the Socialist International, will take part in the meeting of the Internatonal’s presidium and the heads of Social-Democratic states and governments who will come together in New York for the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.
