Igor Dodon convokes Security Council

The need to develop a new National Security Strategy was the highlight of today’s Supreme Security Council meeting convened by President Igor Dodon.

The Strategy will be developed by Security Council staff in coordination with the President’s Office.

“For the first time, there is going to be a professional approach that takes into account all the risks and threats, both internal and external, to national security. The goal is to have the Strategy developed, finalized and submitted to Parliament for adoption by the end of 2018”, wrote Igor Dodon on his FB account.

Earlier Igor Dodon revoked a 2016 presidential decree by his predecessor Nicolae Timofti that approved the National Security Concept Paper, with the argument that it didn’t “correspond to the state of play”, meaning that the 2011 Strategy is now in force.
