The stake of the Democratic Party’s leader Vlad Plahotniuc, who announced that the PDM is ready to support a common candidate of the pro-European forces in the struggle for the mayoralty of Chisinau, is not only the local elections, said President Igor Dodon. According to him, the Democrats try to launch messages and negotiations in order to create preconditions for restoring the alliance for European integration, which promoted European slogans, but actually derided the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
In a news conference, President Dodon said the main struggle in the local and parliamentary elections will be between the Party of Socialist and the parties of the right. “I’m firmly convinced that everyone realizes that all the so-called pro-European parties that are in power or in the opposition failed politically. It is evident that the pro-Stalinism political party, the PSRM, will win the next parliamentary elections,” stated Igor Dodon.
He noted that the pro-presidential party, the PSRM, has real chances of winning the local mayoral elections in Chisinau and Balti and this autumn’s parliamentary elections. The PSRM will field candidates after the Central Election Commission takes an official decision about the election date.
Vlad Plahotniuc announced that the PDM will not have an own candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality, but is ready to support a common candidate of the pro-European parties and the parties of the right. According to him, the common candidate of the Party “Action and Solidarity”, the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, the Liberal Party and the European People’s Party of Moldova, who will be supported by the PDM, has real chances of winning the early local mayoral elections in the municipality of Chisinau and of making the Socialists suffer a categorical defeat.
