The law to supplement the Parliament’s Regulations, which enables the unaffiliated or independent MPs to set up parliamentary groups at any moment, was published in the July 14 issue of the Official Gazette. The law went again through parliamentary procedure so that President Igor Dodon had to promulgate it even if he rejected it earlier, IPN reports.
The changes made by the law to the Parliament’s Regulations institutionalize parliamentary factions that consist of at least five unaffiliated and/or independent MPs and give these the same rights and obligations as those that apply to parliamentary groups.
The parliamentary factions will enjoy working space, equipment and stationery and the required services. They will also benefit from an annual budget agreed by Parliament, depending on the numeric representation in the legislature.
