The war in Ukraine continues to be an increased and major risk to the national security of the Republic of Moldova and causes multi-dimensional damage to the development of the state on a daily basis, said secretary of state of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Valeriu Mija, who participated online in the meeting of the Moldova – EU Parliamentary Association Committee held in Brussels, IPN reports.
The MFA official said that the hybrid war in the Republic of Moldova represents an increased risk, which further exploits national weaknesses and exposes the country to imminent dangers, facts confirmed during the constitutional referendum and presidential election of this autumn. Therefore, the authorities in Chisinau are working to extend international partnerships, to build national resilience, to modernize the security sector and develop the security culture, stressed Valeriu Mija.
The meeting in Brussels discussed the process of Moldova's accession to the European Union, the current stage of bilateral screening, the geopolitical and security situation in the region, as well as this autumn's election.
The parliamentary forum usually meets twice a year, alternately in Chisinau and Brussels. The meeting is the first since the election of the tenth European Parliament.
