Ion Ceban: May 20 can become a turning point in modern history of Chisinau

The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said the election campaign for him was an opportunity to state his viewpoints on how the problems faced by the inhabitants of Chisinau can be solved. He called on all the residents of Chisinau to go to the polls on May 20 as this day can become a turning point in the modern history of the municipality, IPN reports.

“We, unlike other candidates, have been permanently near the inhabitants of Chisinau and intervened whenever it was needed to deal with the problems of the capital city. Our viewpoints are well known by the inhabitants of Chisinau,” Ion Ceban stated in a news conference on May 18, which is the last day when electoral campaigning is allowed.

The Socialist candidate said he fully used the election campaign to present his electoral offer for the Chisinau City Hall. He gave news conferences where he formulated concrete proposals for each area of activity and each category of citizens and had numerous meetings with voters. He took part in electoral debates and programs and regrets that other candidates didn’t do so too.

Ion Ceban noted some tried to engage him in political polemics and wanted to increase their popular approval ratings by confrontations with him. “I’m confident that the people ultimately realized who and what aimed to do in this election campaign and who and for what purpose wants to come to the City Hall and also who and what solutions has for Chisinau,” he stated.

New local mayoral elections on May 20 will take place in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti and in another five communities in Moldova.
