The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban called on the party’s representatives at polling places to be very attentive when counting the ballots. “We will definitely win these elections,” the Socilaist stated in a press briefing after the closing of polling places, IPN reports.

Ion Ceban said the Party of Socialists delegated by at least three representatives to monitor voting at each of the polling places. These identified no major violations that could infleunce the election outcome.

“The elections to choose the mayor of Chisinau municipality took place. I want to sincerely thank all the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality who took part in these elections. I want to thank everyone for taking part and for showing a spirit of democracy and participation. I want to thank a lot the team that helped me in the campaign,”stated Ion Ceban.

He didn’t answer journalists’questions, saying he will return with other details later.

The voter turnout in the municipality of Chisinau by 9am was 35.53%, which is about 225,000 voters.
