Iurie Ciocan: I worked hard and intend to continue doing so

I worked hard and intend to continue doing so, the new president of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Iurie Ciocan said on February 15 after his appointment, Info-Prim Neo reports. Iurie Ciocan said he did not long to become president of the central electoral authority as he liked to serve as secretary, but will do his utmost now that his colleagues gave him a vote of confidence. The former CEC secretary said he already made the first order as president of the Commission, which concerns the use of electronic documents in the internal work of the institution that he will head for five years. Together with his new team, he started to draw up a plan of action for the period of this year's local elections. Nine members of the CEC voted for Iurie Ciocan, who was put forward by the Liberal Democratic Party. Vadim Motsarski, one of the three representatives of the Communist Party in the Commission, said it is regrettable that none of the CEC members proposed by the Opposition got one of the three main posts in the Commission. Alexandru Simionov, who was also fielded by the Communist parliamentary group, shared this opinion. The Central Election Commission elected its administration in a festive meeting on February 15. Stefan Uratu, who was proposed by the Liberal Party, was elected deputy president, while Andrei Volentir was named as CEC secretary by presidential decree.
