Iurie Leanca comments on Mihai Ghimpu’s decision to renounce agreement

“Mister Ghimpu showed that he hasn’t yet realized that the partnership was established for the European integration, not for promoting the thieves from the Chisinau City Hall,” the leader of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM) Iurie Leanca said, commenting on the Liberal leader’s decision to renounce the agreement of cooperation signed by the government coalition with the PPEM on July 29 this year, IPN reports.

“If he thought that this agreement was a political game for annulling the referendum (on the dismissal of the Liberal mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, e.n.), he acted correctly when he withdrew his signature when he found out that it wasn’t so. The PPEM will continue to support with all its force the country’s European integration because it is convinced that this is the only way for modernizing the Republic of Moldova,” Iurie Leanca says in his message.

The reaction was published on the Facebook page of the PPEM leader.

The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu announced that he withdraws his signature from the agreement of cooperation with the PPEM starting with September 5. In a press release, the PL says the fact that Iurie Leanca went to Brussels, Bucharest and Sofia where he spoke about the European integration, while in Chisinau he formed an alliance with pro-Russian parties, which are anti-national and anti-European, is condemnable.

As a result of the agreement, Iurie Leanca was appointed as chairman of the Parliamentary Council for European Integration. The sides, the PPEM and the ruling alliance, unconditionally pledged to take and support actions to ensure the implementation of the Moldova - EU Association Agreement at national and foreign levels.
