The last two candidates for mayor who submitted the required documents to the Chisinau District Electoral Council learned their places on the ballot. The candidate of the Russian-Slavic Party Alexandru Matu will be under No. 12, while the candidate of the National Unity Party Constantin Codreanu under No. 13 on the ballot, IPN reports.
April 19 was the deadline for submissions. Thirteen persons have filed the necessary documents for being registered as runners in the mayoral elections in Chisinau. These are: Vasile Costiuc, of the Party “Democracy at Home”; Andrei Nastase, of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”; Reghina Apostolova, of the Shor Party, Alexandr Roshko, of the Party “Our Home Moldova”; Valeriu Munteanu, of the Liberal Party; Ion Ceban, of the Party of Socialists; Victor Stratila, of the Green Ecologist Party; Maxim Braila, of the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova; Alexandra Can, of the National Liberal Party; Andrei Munteanu, of the Progressive Society Party; acting mayor Silvia Radu (independent); Alexandru Matu, of the Russian-Slavic Party, and Constantin Codreanu, of the National Unity Party.
Activist SergiuTofilat, who intended to run as an independent, didn’t submit the documents to the Council. In a posting on a social networking site, he said it is very hard to collect over 10,000 signatures in support in such a short period of time. Sergiu Tofilat reaffirmed his interest to form a team for the Chisinau City Hall and the Municipal Council for the next local general elections, of 2019.
