Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca will take over as interim Prime Minister on Thursday, April 25. The announcement was made by Leanca after a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, where he was informed about his appointment to this post, IPN reports.

“I was invited by the head of state to be informed about his decision. I will be interim Premier from Thursday. It is the President’s decision. He is not obliged to consult the parties. I expected that we will have a functional Government from Thursday,” Iurie Leanca told the journalists.

He also said that he had no other solution or option than to accept this post. However, he wants to deal with his specialization in international relations in the future. “I would like to deal with what I know best,” stated Iurie Leanca.

President Nicolae Timofti decided to name an interim Premier following the verdict given by the Constitutional Court.
