Letter to Parliament: We hope we will not see each other in next legislature

“We hope we will not see each other in the next legislature.” This is the message addressed to the lawmakers by jurist Mihai Corj, who considers that the head of state cannot be elected because of the inefficient work done by Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Given the results achieved by you so far, we hope none of you will have seats in the 20th legislature, which is the supreme legislative body of Moldova and the only legislative authority of the state,” reads the open letter sent by Mihai Corj to Parliament. However, the jurist calls on the MPs to find a solution to overcome the political crisis. “You must realize the responsibility that you bear before the people who elected you and prove that you never forget that you serve the people’s interests,” says the letter. According to Mihai Corj, the lawmakers are obliged to strictly obey the Constitution, the laws and the ethical and moral norms and should earn the people’s trust. “The Parliament must elect the head of state and only needs political will,” said the jurist. November 14 is the deadline for submitting applications for being registered as candidates for the presidency. None of the applicants has been yet registered as they did not file all the necessary documents. The lawmakers are to elect the head of state on November 18.
