Lib-Dems suggest naming CAN vice directors by contest

The lawmakers of the Liberal Democratic Party proposed that the vice directors of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA) should be named by a transparent, public contest. Under the legislation, the CNA vice directors are appointed by Parliament at the suggestion of the Center’s director, Info-Prim Neo reports. The relevant bill was registered with the Parliament’s Secretariat. The authors of the initiative suggest laying down clear selection criteria so that the best specialists in the field are chosen. “The role of the CAN vice directors cannot be neglected. The deputies perform the duties of the director in his absence. In such conditions, the necessity of ensuring the selection of the best professionals is evident. They should be chosen on the basis of the same criteria as the CAN head,” said the bill authors. The obeying of the transparency rules when selecting and naming the CAN vice directors will contribute to increasing confidence in the institution and will eliminate possible speculations about the political affiliation of the selected candidates, said the Liberal-Democratic MPs.
