The head of the Democratic Party (PDM) Marian Lupu expects that the Moldovan voters this year will get rid of the non-justified influence of the Communist Party, which will have a modest result in this autumn’s elections. He made the statement in an interview for the portal Tribuna. Lupu believes that this will happen as a result of the explicative work done by the ruling parties and of the pronounced erosion processes affecting the Communist Party (PCRM), IPN reports.
“I refer to the vacation of the seat of MP by Mark Tkachuk. I think his reasons were different, but it’s clear that the PCRM is now being powerfully shaken and it’s not clear if it reaches the elections in the current state,” said the leader of the PDM.
Marian Lupu described the leaving of Mark Tkachuk as a hoax that is yet to be deciphered. “First of all, he didn’t leave the PCRM. He only renounced his seat in Parliament. His leaving looks more like a hoax or blackmail against Voronin. I personally think that Tkachuk should stay in the PCRM, should mount other velvet revolutions as that from the end of last year and should continue his negative influence on Voronin. This would considerably diminish the PCRM’s score in elections,” he stated.
Marian Lupu does not believe that Mark Tkachuk’s leaving is related to the recent pro-European statements of Voronin. “I don’t think so. I’m sure that Tkachuk realizes very well that Voronin’s statements are only statements made by a man who got angry with Russia and tries to show those who criticized him that he can change the direction. This is blackmail aimed against Russia. Voronin always knew that the Customs Union does not exist, but intensely promoted it among their voters. He also knows very well the advantages of a relationship with the EU,” he stated.
The head of the PDM noted that the processes happening inside the PCRM are beneficial for Moldova. “The PCRM is a party that should not win more than 15% of the vote in elections. Their current score is due to the fact that they monopolized the left-wing voters unjustly. They did it by lies and manipulation. But the people started to realize this and I’m sure that this year they will escape from the Communists’ captivity,” Marian Lupu stated for Tribuna.
