A runoff mayoral election will be held in Ilyichovca commune of Floresti district on December 15, as the Central Electoral Commission decided on Wednesday, IPN reports.

The CEC noted that according to the decision of the Ilyichovca commune electoral district council of November 30, the registration of candidate Irina Volchuc was canceled. However, even so, she participated in the second round held on December 1 and won the highest number of votes.

At the same time, the candidate challenged the electoral body's decision in the Soroca Court, which on December 1 rejected the appeal as unfounded. The Balti Court of Appeals also rejected the appeal and the decision is enforceable, but with the possibility of appeal to the Supreme Court of Justice.

In this regard, the CEC considers as judicious the application of the electoral provisions, in relation to the fact that "elections can be declared void if deviations from the Electoral Code, which influenced the results of voting and the allocation of seats, were committed in the electoral procedures.

Thus, the runoff vote will be held on the basis of the same data from the electoral lists and with the same electoral bodies, with the inclusion in the ballot paper of the candidates who participated in the first round of voting (in the order decided by the Ilyichovca electoral district council No. 18/19, Floresti district), without candidate Irina Volchuc of Renaissance Party.

At the same time, the electoral contestants put on the ballot have to submit reports on election campaign financing, in accordance with the Electoral Code.
