The Bashkan of Gagauzia Mihail Formuzal presented officially his party – the Party of Regions of Moldova (PRM). The party pleads for the election of the head of state by the people, for ‘Moldovan’ official language and for Russian as second official language, for the modern history of Moldova and the ethnic groups living here and for Moldova’s active participation in the economic integration into the Eurasia Union, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“After 20 years of independence, the country is not yet reunified and we became the poorest country in Europe. The people go abroad, while the politicians quarrel between them and lose time on television studios instead of resolving the country’s problems. The political instability is felt in the regions as well and the country is stagnant,” said Mihail Formuzal. The Bashkan stressed that the Party of Regions consists of new people, regional leaders with initiative and wish to take over the administration.
The party’s first deputy head Nicolai Glavan said the Party of Regions will promote the observance of the law. “Moldova’s official language is Moldovan, based on the Latin Script. It shouldn’t be distorted and named language without name,” he stated.
PRM deputy head Feodor Sabii said the electoral system must be modified as it is flawed and not well-planed. The President of Moldova should be elected by the people once in five years, while the presidential elections should be held simultaneously with the parliamentary or local elections so as to save money.
Another deputy head of the PRM Valery Ianioglo said that the country’s sovereignty and independence are among the party’s priories. Internal reforms are needed to guarantee conditions for the country’s development. “The authorities aspire to European integration, but do not say clearly what this integration means. We see what’s going on in Europe. The European officials say that Europe is tired of new countries that want to join the EU,” he stated.
The Party of Regions was registered on October 18.
