Moldovan peacekeepers deployed on six-month international missions

41 men and women from Moldova's National Army are currently engaged in patrol, guard, and security operations to protect military facilities, with a group of engineers conducting reconnaissance missions in Kosovo as part of the KFOR and EUFOR ALTHEA peacekeeping operations, IPN reports, citing a press release from the National Army.

The commander of the KFOR-21 National Army contingent, major Ion Vlas, said that Moldovan peacekeepers are highly regarded due to their intensive training both domestically and at the base.

Meanwhile, the commander of Moldova's first contingent deployed in the European Union's mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina - EUFOR ALTHEA, lieutenant-major Vadim Ceban, praised the performance of his 18 subordinates, highlighting their commitment, discipline, and professionalism in fulfilling security missions.

Additionally, a group of Moldovan soldiers from the EUFOR ALTHEA-1 contingent participated in sporting competitions alongside 21 teams from various countries, achieving fifth place in the 20-kilometer run.

The National Army's KFOR-21 contingent was deployed to the peacekeeping mission in Kosovo in July this year, and National Army soldiers departed for the EU mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina in September 2024. In both cases, the deployment period lasts for six months.
