Natalia Gavrilița to sign Horizon Europe at meeting of Moldova-EU Association Council

On the sidelines of the sixth meeting of the Moldova – European Union Association Council, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița will sign the agreement to join Horizon Europe – the EU’s key funding program for research and innovation that tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth, says a press release issued by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.

Premier Gavriliță will co-chair the meeting of the Association Council together with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, IPN reports.

The Moldovan official will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu and Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco.

In the meeting, the sides will focus on the following issues: political dialogue and reform; political association; cooperation and convergence in the field of foreign policy and security; freedom, security and justice; trade and the deep and comprehensive free trade area; economic cooperation and sector cooperation; the energy sector.

While in Brussels, the Moldovan delegation will have meetings with a number of EU high-ranking officials. Besides Josep Borrell, Natalia Gavrilița will meet with Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel, Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katarina Mathernova, and eithers.

The sixth meeting of the Moldova – European Union Association Council will take place on October 28, 2021.
