Nesterovski reached Transnistrian region through operation coordinated by Russian services

The Russian Embassy in Chisinau helped convicted MP Alexandr Nesterovski to reach the Transnistrian region through an operation coordinated by the Russian intelligence services, IPN reports.

Security and Intelligence Service director Alexandru Musteața in a press briefing presented video images of how Alexandr Nesterovski entered the precincts of the embassy on March 18, at 08:15 p.m., the evening before the sentence was pronounced, from where, the next morning, he was transported to the Transnistrian region by a vehicle with a diplomatic license plate.

Thus, at the time the sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment in a closed penitentiary was pronounced, Nesterovski was no longer on the territory controlled by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, said the SIS director.

Alexandru Musteața also said that the MP is still in the region, under the protection of the Russian intelligence services.

The SIS presented the chronology of events and the modus operandi in the case of Nesterovski’s transportation.

According to the obtained information, on the evening of March 18, Nesterovski got into a Hyundai Tucson car driven by a well-known person. At 08:15 p.m., the vehicle was observed parked for a short time near the Embassy of the Russian Federation, after which it continued its way. After seven minutes, the same car returned near the Embassy, and the driver got out and talked on the intercom with a person from the diplomatic mission. A few minutes later, he waved towards the car. At that point, Alexandr Nesterovski got out of the car, crossed the street in a hurry and entered the Embassy. Subsequently, between 09:00 p.m. and 01:00 a.m., an intense activity of Russian diplomats outside working hours was noticed.

On the morning of March 19, at 11:19 a.m., a Mercedes Sprinter minibus with a diplomatic license plate left the Embassy of the Russian Federation. At 12:16 p.m., it was observed at the internal checkpoint "Gura Bîcului", moving at high speed towards the Transnistrian region, without observing the traffic rules or procedures imposed by the so-called Transnistrian authorities.

According to the SIS’ examinations, the transport was carefully coordinated by representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, and the final destination was the so-called Mobile Consulate of Russia in Tiraspol.

The SIS determined that these actions represented an operation by the Russian intelligence services to transport away citizen Aleksandr Nesterovski. The diplomatic cover, namely by involving the embassy and the means of transport with a diplomatic license plate, was used in order to limit the capacity of the national authorities of the Republic of Moldova to act, the SIS director pointed out.

The information obtained by the Security and Intelligences Service was transmitted to decision-makers and institutions empowered to take the necessary measures.
