New elections to take place in four villages

New local elections will be held in four Moldovan villages on October 30, simultaneously with the presidential elections. A decision to this effect was taken by the Central Election Commission (CEC) in a meeting on August 9, IPN reports.

New elections will take place in Galesti village of Straseni district, in Bucuria village of Cahul district, in Galaseni village of Rascani district and in Iserlia village of Basarabeasca district. In two of the four villages, the mayors died, while in the other two villages the mayors resigned.

According to the CEC president Alina Russu, the decision to hold the local elections simultaneously with the presidential ones was taken with the aim of optimizing the costs incurred for organizing the elections.
