Doina Nistor was sworn in as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday morning at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean, IPN reports.

"I swear to give all my strength and skill to the prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, to respect the Constitution and the laws of the country, to defend democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms, the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Moldova," vowed Doina Nistor.

President Maia Sandu thanked her for accepting this challenge. According to her, "economic growth and development are important, including for strengthening democracy, as one without the other cannot exist."

"The Republic of Moldova has gone through a difficult period. Our economy is affected by the war in the neighborhood, which is why double efforts are needed to increase the competitiveness of economic agents, to attract investments, to lay the foundations of a sustainable economy," said President Sandu.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean noted that with the approval of the Economic Growth Plan with unprecedented funding from the EU, Moldova is moving to a new stage – the stage of accelerated economic growth. "We have the task of transforming economic growth into well-being for everyone – high-paying jobs and income for entrepreneurs," said the official.

The appointment of the new minister comes after the resignation of Dumitru Alaiba on Thursday. Doina Nistor has over 20 years of experience in economic development and digital transformation in the Republic of Moldova. She managed major projects in key sectors, such as information and communication technologies, tourism, winemaking, light industry, engineering, cybersecurity, and creative industries.
