Nistru war veterans dissatisfied with May 9 concert

Members of the Associations of the 1992 War Veterans in a news conference expressed their dissatisfaction with the concert staged by the Embassy of Russia in the center of Chisinau on May 9. The veterans said the Liberal Party lost a large number of supporters owing to the fact that the Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca allowed this concert to take place, IPN reports.

Anatol Caraman, head of “Tiras-Tighina” Association, said that Russia’s espionage in Moldova is something permanent. Last week’s events form part of a plan of the Kremlin, including the visit paid by Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin to Chisinau and Tiraspol on May 9.

Gheorghe Vita, chairman of the Union of Romanians from Bessarabia, Northern Bucovina and Hertsa Region, said that the Russian boot stepped onto the flag and culture of Moldova on May 9, while the occupants marched as they wanted in the Great National Assembly Square, with bottles of vodka in their hands. “The events in the central square of Chisinau took place with the consent of the authorities, including Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca,” he stated.

According to him, Cossacks were brought to the Great National Assembly Square from Transnistria on May 9. They were under the influence and had guns, but the police didn’t take measures to ensure public order.

Alexandru Banari, head of the Association “Justice”, said that by allowing Rogozin to deliver a speech in front of the crowd, the government insulted the war veterans and those who were killed in battle. The authorities lost the sense of national dignity and their actions had a harmful effect on the national security and territorial integrity of the country.
