Parliament renames two ministries and removes post of state minister
The legislature Wednesday adopted amendments to the Law on the Government, renaming two ministries and eliminating the position of state minister, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After more than two hours of consultation involving the newly created parliamentary commissions, the Parliament passed the bill by 58 votes.
The Ministry of Construction and Regional Development was renamed the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction, while the Ministry of Informational Technologies and Communications - the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
The lawmakers also decided to institute the Government’s Presidium that will propose the agenda of the Parliament’s sittings for approval. The vote of the majority of the Government members will be needed in case of all the decisions taken by the executive.
Valeriu Lazar, of the PDM, said the amendments are aimed at bringing clarity and optimizing the work of the Government.
The legislative body also agreed the composition of the permanent commissions and accepted the previous Government’s resignation. In the next and last sitting of the extraordinary session on Friday, Premier designate Vlad Filat is to present the new government program and new members of the Cabinet.
