The Communist Party (PCRM) considers that the gesture of the three members who recently left the Communist parliamentary group represents moral decay and confirmation that they lack uprightness, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a statement by the party’s Central Committee issued by the PCRM’s press office. The Central Committee says the defection by the three was a surprise for the party. “Both Greceanyi and Dodon during the last few years had been actively promoted by the Communist Party to senior state posts. They shouldn’t complain about lack of political promotion,” reads the declaration. The PCRM says that none of the three expressed openly their positions in the weekly meetings of the parliamentary group or the plenary meetings of the Central Committee. According to the PCRM, the leaders of the ruling alliance decided to overcome the political crisis not by looking for compromises, but by looking for traitors. “And they found the traitors − Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuk left the Communist parliamentary group. The three said openly that they intend to give three votes so that the head of state is elected. This formulation makes us consider their decision as joining of the ruling alliance and its policy,” says the declaration. Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuk announced that they left the Communist parliamentary group on November 4. Igor Dodon also defected from the PCRM. They argued they want to help bring the political crisis to an end and are ready to give three votes to an apolitical candidate for the presidency, who forms part of no alliance or political organization, has the necessary abilities and is respected in Moldova and abroad. In a TV program later, Igor Dodon said the PCRM is actually headed by Mark Tkachuk, who controls half of the members of the Communist parliamentary group through persons whom he prompted on electoral lists. He announced that he will most probably join the Party of Socialists.
