Experts consider the chances of the Communist Party (PCRM) of returning to power are minimal The party’s rating has decreased after a number of heavyweights left the PCRM and founded other political organizations or will run in the elections on the lists of other parties. The leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin is trying to improve his rating by making accusations about possible election rigging against the government. Such conclusions were formulated in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
Constitutional law expert Vitalie Catana said Voronin is no longer credible as he discredited himself in the eight years of government. “He makes promises so easily as if he has a magic wand in his hand. The question is where the wand was when the Communists were in power. Even if the PCRM comes to power and raises the salaries and pensions, these will not be the merits of Voronin. By his statements, Voronin resorts to outdate electoral tricks. Now the PCRM counts only on Voronin’s image, but such a situation cannot last endlessly,” he stated.
Politologist Mihai Cernencu, department head at the Moldova Free International University, considers the leader of the PCRM is already an outmoded personality, while the accusations as regards election rigging made by him against the government are outdated tactics that are no longer used by the politicians. Voronin’s statements are an electoral trick. The new technologies prevent the fixing of elections now.
Former presidential adviser to Vladimir Voronin, journalist Valeriu Renita said that Voronin disadvantages the party he heads. “He does nothing but introduce a negative note in the election period by outdated political speechifying. The statements about election rigging are just electoral weapons of the opposition parties, which are no longer up do date,” he stated.
