The people protesting in the square before the Parliament Building, mobilized by the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the “Our Party” (PPPN), repeatedly demanded that the head of state should resign, saying that Nicolae Timofti has less than two days to leave his post. On October 1, these intended to picket the State Residence, but were stopped by a police cordon, IPN reports.
In a communique, the PPPN says a protest was improvised in front of the line of police officers. After a short protest, the leaders of the PPPN and PSRM, Renato Usatyi and Igor Dodon, went to the State Residence to transmit protesters’ demands to Nicolae Timofti.
“He will have to leave and I’m sure that Timofti is ready to leave. Our mission is to help him a little. And we will help him every day,” said Renato Usatyi when he returned to the participants in the protest.
“Hundreds of people gathered here today, but tomorrow thousands will come to Timofti. At the State Residence, Timofti’s servants said there are three addresses where the head of state can be. This means that we will have to go to all the three addresses, even four, because Timofti thinks that only he knows about one more apartment. He is wrong as we will visit him there too,” stated Usatyi.
Earlier, the leaders of the PPPN and PSRM said they have a number of plans for the near future, but do not want to reveal them so that these are not compromised by the opponents.
On October 1, the three parties of the Alliance for European Integration 3 issued a statement by which they reassert the commitments made to the people. They also confirm their political support for President Nicolae Timofti, the Government and its work program.
