PGO accused of starting administrative cases by order
The Communist Party accuses the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) of fabricating administrative cases against supporters of the party, who boycotted the meetings of the parliamentary commission on national security, defense and public order early in February, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on April 24, Communist lawmaker Sergiu Sarbu said that administrative cases were opened against 20 young people because they took part in the February 3 and 8 events staged in the building of the Ministry of Agriculture.
“These young people did not receive summonses. They were only informed that they have to pay fines. It is a farce. Among these 20 people are persons who did not take part in our events or who left the party half a year ago. This shows that the prosecutors did not gather information and fabricated cases by order,” said Sergiu Sarbu.
The MP presented a young woman, who was fined 6,300 lei. She said that she was at work and could not take part in the two events.
Sergiu Sarbu also said that the penalized young people will go to court and if justice is not done to them they will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
According to him, they possess information that the prosecutors were ordered to deprive the Communist MPs who took part in the protests of parliamentary immunity and to hold them accountable.
The Prosecutor General’s Office denied the accusations.
